Ms. Morag reminded our members that since 1984 they had supported the Trillium Health Foundation with over $700,000 in donations. These cheques were from the Poppy fund and are a reminder of the power of that small Poppy.

Additional to these donations, the Hensall Circle branch supports almost fifty local charities in the Mississauga/peel community.  Many of these are listed on the website:  www.rcl582.com

The role of the Royal Canadian Legion is not well known in the community. Our purpose is to support veterans and their families in every way we can. We want Veterans who are in need to know that the Royal Canadian Legion exists to help them and their families. They are welcomed and supported at the Branches.

While the branch has many moneymaking activities, the majority of our funds come from the Poppy Drive which is conducted yearly from the end of October until November 11th.  Personally, I am overwhelmed and humbled by the great support we get in our community during the yearly Poppy Drive. Only with this support can we do what we do.

Most people do not realize that they can become a Legion member even though they have not had military service.  For more information please contact  rcl582@bellnet.ca  or phone 905-277-2902
