The final report with recommendations from city staff for the application for development of1 detached dwelling and 20 semi-detached dwellings at 6532/6544 Winston Churchill Blvd. was considered at the Planning and Development Committee meeting on May 2, 2016 and was approved.
I have held several public meetings regarding this proposal and received excellent feedback from the community which resulted in the original proposal for 6 detached dwellings and 18 condominium townhouses to be changed to the present proposal.
As I have noted previously, these lands were designated in the City’s Official Plan as Residential Low Density II within the Meadowvale neighbourhood which permits detached, semi-detached and duplex dwellings. The proposal did not therefore not require an Official Plan Amendment but required a zoning by-law amendment to allow for the development of the 1 detached dwelling and 20 semi-detached dwellings.
