Road Closures:  Ninth Line is being reconstructed and will be closed from Derry Road to Argentia Road starting Saturday July 23, 2016.  The road is expected to re-open on December 2, 2016.

July 25, 2016 – Library union CUPE Local 1989 has ratified a four year collective agreement.  All City of Mississauga Library facilities will reopen with regular hours at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, pending ratification of the agreement by the Mississauga Library Board and Mississauga City Council.  Book drops are closed and late fines are waived until the reopening.  Regular programming will resume on July 28, 2016.  The City of Mississauga and Library Union CUPE Local 1989 reached a tentative memorandum of settlement on July 21, 2016.

Old Blue box/green Bin Return Program If you are not re-purposing your old blue boxes/green bins, the region will collect them if you call or email and request pickup at curb side. The email address is zzg-wasteinquiry@peelregion.ca and the phone number is 905-791-9499. The old bins can also be dropped off at the Battleford Community Recycling Centre, 2255 Battleford Rd. Hours: Monday to Thursday: 8:30 a.m. - 8 p.m. Friday to Sunday: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

I am pleased to announce a pilot project in Lake Aquitaine Park for the disposal of dog waste which began on Monday May 30, 2016.  We have installed 5 stations around the park. Each station will have a supply of biodegradable bags for the public to use and a bin specifically designed for the waste.

This is a reminder that the stormwater charge started to appear on the Region of Peel water bills for Mississauga in March 2016. Daily and annual estimates of the stormwater charge for properties are available by clicking here.

Freedom Pass - Youth ages 12 to 14 can get unlimited free rides within Mississauga on MiWay and unlimited free public swimming at City of Mississauga heated indoor and outdoor pools from July 1 - August 31, 2016.  Click here to learn how to register.

The Region is replacing watermains on certain streets in Ward 9 within the next two years.  If your street is on the list, you may wish to delay any major landscaping or driveway works you may have planned until after the work has been completed.  Please clickhere for the list of streets and the notice mailed to residents who live on these streets.

Riders Against Hunger is a motorcycle charity ride held on the third Saturday in August each year in support of Eden Food for Change. Eden provides food and other assistance to hungry families in western Mississauga.  This year the ride takes place in August 20, 2016.  Click here for details.

The 1st and 3rd Meadowvale West Scout Groups are holding a fundraiser in order to send their Scouts to the Canadian Scout Jamboree in 2017.   They are holding afundraising CAR WASH on Saturday, Aug 27, 2016 from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm at Eden United Church (corner of Winston Churchill Blvd. and Battleford Road).
