Phase One was completed and opened in January of 2003 and included 180 beds for Long Term Care residents. At that time, the zoning was put in place for the entire project that would include the Long Term Care building, a central linking internal “town square” and a 7 storey seniors’ apartment building with a total of 236 additional units.
A site plan application was submitted to the City in May 2013 and I held an Open House with the applicant in July 2013 so residents could view the plans.
Due to shadowing concerns raised by City planning staff, there is a need to reduce the height of the building on the east side of the property. In order to do this and still provide the number of seniors' apartments needed in the community, the applicant is proposing a 12 storey building stepping down to 3 storeys along the east boundary with a total of 267 units.
As this plan is different from the one shown in 2013, I held an open house on November 26, 2014 so that residents could view these revised plans and ask any questions. To view the revised site plan please click here.
Revised January 20, 2015.
