I want to express my deepest sympathies to the deceased resident and her family and friends as a result of this devastating explosion. As well my thoughts and prayers are with all residents impacted at this very difficult time.
I want to thank all the First Responders who attended immediately - Mississauga Fire Department, Peel Regional Police, Heavy Urban Search and Rescue Team, Animal Services and all Emergency Medical Services including Peel Paramedics.
I was on site shortly after the explosion occurred and I am so proud of our First Responders not only for their immediate action but how they ensured all residents' concerns were addressed and questions answered.
I later attended Burnhamthorpe Community Centre where displaced residents were provided with essential services. Again, special thank you to the Region of Peel - Social Services, Salvation Army, Insurance Bureau of Canada and the Staff at Burnhamthorpe Community Centre for welcoming residents and again ensuring they were provided with anything they needed.
Going forward, the Office of the Fire Marshall Emergency Management Team is on site continuing their investigation. Peel Regional Police and City Building Officials are also on site ensuring both residents and buildings are safe.
Finally, I want to thank members of our community including the many churches, retailers and community groups who have come forward offering their assistance. At this time, no donations or personal supports are needed as all those residents who have been displaced have been taken care of.
I will continue to update my website as new information becomes available.
