HOW TO INSTALL THE TREE SHAPED GARDEN PLANTER.

  1. Dig a slightly oversize 7” dia pit to fit this foundation in the ground. Insert this spike in the pit and gently tap it down hitting the metal spike with a hammer (not the pipe) or press it down with your feet till you have 3” of the foundation pipe sticking above ground level.
  2. Back fill the sides of the foundation with soil and compact it. Pouring some water while filling the soil will help to fill it.
  3. Fit the bottom portion of the planter on the foundation
  4. Insert the round pipe (supplied with the planter) through the bottom holes of the planter and press the planter down till it firmly rests on the ground. You may require two persons to press from both sides.
  5. Fit the top portion of the planter carefully aligning with the bottom portion.
  6. Insert the round pipe (supplied) through the bottom holes of the top part of the planter and press it down to fit into the bottom portion of the planter till it is locked in. You may require two persons to press from both sides.
  7. Take a length of string or chord (8 ft) tie some weight to one end and lower it into the planter from the top. Tie it to the tip of the watering pipe and gently pull it all the way to the top and secure it. Make sure it is nice and tight in the bottom portion of the planter and is in the centre.
  8. Fill some pebbles or gravel into the planter through the lowest holes to about 12 inches from ground level. This is for drainage of water.
  9. Fill potting mix of your choice preferably Tripple Mix and fill it in level with the lowest holes. As you are filling up the planter, always make sure that the watering pipe is kept in the centre Put your hand in or with a pole, compact the soil till it is in level with the planting holes.
  10. Fit one netted disk (supplied with the planter) which has a centre hole and a cut and pass the stem of the plant through the cut to have the stem in the centre hole of the disk.
  11.  Gently clasp the netted disk along with root system of the plant and insert into the holes of the planter one at a time. Adjust the netted disk so that it rests flush against the inside wall of the planter. You may have to fill in some more soil to support the disk, but make sure the plant is in the centre of the planting hole of the planter. These disks when placed properly in the centre of the hole prevent soil from flowing out of the planter and also prevents the roots of the plant form withdrawing from the planter. This simple disk locks the plant firmly into the planter.
  12. Once both the plants are firmly locked into the planter, fill more potting mix till the next level and compact it making sure that the netted disks on both sides are firmly pressed by the soil against the walls of the planter and always make sure the watering pipe is kept in the centre of the planter. Pour a little bit of water into the planter if you want to make sure the soil is adequately compacted. Continue the process till you have come to the topmost holes. Continue filling and planting till you reach the top, but leave about 5 inches unfilled with soil so that there is some space to hold water at the top end.. Once all the planting is done, it is better to irrigate the planter manually from the top for a few days to make sure that the soil settles down well into the planter and fills all the voids you may have in the soil. You can later fill in some more soil at the top if the level of the soil goes down too much

After a week or so you can connect your garden hose to the planter and let the planter get watered automatically. If you have a underground sprinkler system in your garden, you can hook up the planter to your irrigation system and it will get watered automatically each time your sprinkler system comes on. You may have to fit a valve to your garden hose or the sprinkler pipe connector to reduce the water pressure flowing into the planter.

Just see how beautiful it looks. It can be admired from a distance from all sides. It is a new no sweat gardening concept. Friends who come for your parties will be amazed by its beauty and will not stop talking about it. So go ahead. Get yourself a Planter. Or get a couple and fill your garden and backyard with beauty. Put some on your patio, your driveway or even against every fencing post.  Enjoy your Garden
